Referrals

Any agency or organisation working with young people can refer to The Amber Project (alternatively, young people can self-refer).

If you would like to refer a young person, or if you are wondering if a referral would be appropriate; please
contact us at the office or download a referral form

We regret that due to the number of referrals that we are currently experiencing, we are responding to referrers more slowly than usual.

Belong

Youth Cymru and The Amber Project are working in partnership on this project for young people (aged 12-25) who identify as trans, or are questioning their gender identity, and need support with their emotional well being..

We are currently running two series of creative workshops for young people aged 12-16 and 17-25; these have a friendly, caring and supportive atmosphere, with the option to speak to a counsellor during the session.

The workshops are held on a Thursday evening; the early workshop for young people aged 12-16 meets between 4:30-6:00pm with the older group (17-25) meeting between 7:00-8:30 (ish), both at The Quaker Meeting House, 43 Charles Street, Cardiff, CF10 2GB.  Groups are by invitation only.

If you would like to know more about the project, please contact

Rachel Benson – rachel@youthcymru.org.uk / 01443 827840 or

Caryl Stock - caryl.stock@churcharmy.org

These elements of the project are funded by The Community Foundation in Wales and The Moondance Foundation

Publications

We are very excited by our poetry book, which has been written by the young people at The Amber Project and reflects their thoughts, feelings and experiences (see Publications for more details).

The project also produces a booklet for young people who self-harm, called 'Louder than Words'. We are hoping to revise this in the near future, therefore, it is not currently available in hard copy from the project . However, you can still access it online.

If you would like further information about either of the above, please contact us at the office.
